Floating Happy

“Floating Happy” by Elizabeth Harris

I recently had knee surgery. I wish I had an exciting story to share about how I tore my meniscus and managed a stress fracture on my tibia. It was just a day in the life of playing golf. The grass was wet, I had new shoes that weren’t very grippy, and well the rest is history.

“Floating Happy”

The day after I had surgery I got out my acrylics and started painting away all hopped up on pain meds. I named this piece, “Floating Happy” as I pretty much felt like I was floating with the meds inside of me. I was shocked that they actually gave me 18 days worth of narcotics. I only used one day and that was it. Synthetic happy is not my cup of tea. However it did produce a lovely piece of art. Don’t you agree?

“Floating Happy”

This piece takes me back to my early twenties when I used to paint in this abstract expressionistic way. It reminds me of that young girl trying to find her place in the art world and not knowing how to dip her toes into galleries. Instead I would paint lots of inventory. About the time November rolled around I would host gift events in my home. I would sell the things that I painted, I had sewn, and other crafty things that I made. All of my art would sell. Which built confidence that I was actually an artist.

“Floating Happy”

By nature I am a happy person. I started practicing waking up happy with my second child. I was 23 years old and decided with two children, no matter if I stayed up late, I would always choose to wake up happy.  Floating through each day with a genuine joy and happiness that I believe only comes from God. Because when you’re a mom some days are really hard and there has to be some kind of supernatural intervention that keeps you going.

“Floating Happy”is simply inspired by being a little loopy, extra happy, and the use of pain meds. My husband, who is naturally happy absolutely loved this and he also goes through each day as one of the happiest people I know. So I think the name fits the piece.

If you’re interested in purchasing prints of “Floating Happy” simply message me or find me on social media by clicking the links on the right of this page.

Have a happy day,

With Love

New Branding

It was time for new branding. I was  off track in what I wanted.  I was looking at other artists and their branding. I love how there are looks putting multiple art pieces on a postcard. When I did it for myself I just didn’t quite love it.

I decided to choose one of my favorite painted pieces. One that not only was a favorite piece of mine but represented all of my favorite colors.

This piece is called, “Claudia.” I’m so happy how this turned out.

Below is the front of my business & the back of my business card.

I also ordered postcards. As well as note cards to write  thank you notes to those who purchase my art. I went all out and I even printed ribbon.

“Claudia” Ribbon

Many years ago I used to design my own fabrics. I would print fabric and design bedding, beautiful linens, window treatments, and upholstered furniture. My sister has been saying that she wishes I would start designing my own fabrics again. This  ribbon is a start.

Back to my new branding. I love it and I look forward giving out cards to new people, writing thank you notes and finding fun things to print with my new branding.

Have a wonderful creative and art filled day.

Elizabeth

The Hidden Costs of Art Contests: Are They Worth It?

Artist: Emily Otteson: Follow on IG @emilyottesonart

The hidden costs of art contests: Are they worth it? How much money have you spent entering art contests? How many submissions are needed to get into the next art exhibition? Do you get frustrated and overwhelmed by all the, “no” responses? Have you ever added up the entry fees you have paid out with no recognition or wins? Have you ever looked into the number of those entering? Basic math in one event charged a $75.00 entree fee with a 2000 entry limit.  The winning prize was $10,000.00. I finally decided to spring for $75.00 and this art event had closed. It got me thinking. $75.00 x 2000 submissions = $150,000.00 dollars. Wow!!!! This art contest had a $5,000.00 grand prize.  Not a bad profit without selling one piece of art. Am I in the right business? You need to pay for those influential judges and advertising. Even after those costs, the money is made. This company puts on four big art events a year.

I decided to try entering three black and white photos I took while on vacation to a photo contest.  One of my three photos was accepted. I received the acceptance email with glee and delight. I was told that a dashboard was set up on the contest website and would go live with a link. I then share the link and promote my photograph for votes. After that email was an email giving me the price break down to BUY votes for my photo submission. I was shocked. I was insulted. Buying votes. Another money-making “art” company using the heartstrings of an artist to ask for business. It’s not a bad business model.  But, I wanted my photo to advance on my good merit not a purchased vote.

I am writing this today because I have been in, “Art Selling Purgatory.” I am no longer enjoying painting because of the struggle to sell my art. Doing some purging and cleansing of the impurities of the art business. One we all experience at one time or another. Trying to get in front of the right audience is challenging. The pay to play game is making more money for those putting on those events than for the actual artists.  I know I am not alone because I have talked with countless artists.  Now what?

Today I have no, “now what” except I let it all simmer. Every good soup tastes delicious after a good simmer. This works well with organic ingredients. I am developing my own art exhibits. I aim to reduce costs to give all artists a chance without breaking the bank.  This is not a new idea about promoting artists.

About 15 years ago I had a company called, “Music Passion Hope”. It began as a response to several musical artists. These artists can never find their place on stage or make money. I had some musical children and they had gifted musical friends. “Music Passion Hop” worked with non-profits to put on concerts and raise money for their organization. My company was for profit. Artists were not only paid. They were also taught how to have a stage presence. Additionally, they learned how to build their own music business. I am working on applying some of those same principles in a much smaller way. This will give artists an opportunity to show their best work. It helps them get a foot into the art world without having to pay fee after fee. Building a resume are their good merit and artistic expression.

Stay Tuned.

A Kid At Heart

What does it mean to be a kid at heart?

Being a kid at heart is taking every detail of life and looking at it with a fresh and new perspective.

Children are fascinating to watch. While raising my five children I always vowed to always see the world through their eyes. Each new discovery or little ant crawling across the sidewalk was astounding to a child discovering for the first time. I want to always be amazed and astounded by each new discovery even as an adult.

Asking questions is also part of being a child at heart. We grow up and then we start looking to other influences to give us the answers to some of life’s most important questions.  I want to discover on my own, actually asking the questions, and seek the answers. If you have ever raised children you know they ask a gazillion questions.

When my kids were growing up they would bring their school books home to do their homework.  We would read stories together, pause and ask questions.  Then define our own opinions and ideas. When we could not come up with any answers we would then look in the encyclopedia or on the computer to find out the answers. I never want to grow out of asking questions.

Being a kid at heart is also not taking the daily tasks of life to serious.  Have you ever watched a kid sweeping a floor? Humming while they’re sweeping the floor and how proud they are when they are done and it looks so clean. These little things build confidence in the simplest of tasks. I want to keep humming through daily tasks and having that joy in building confidence in myself as I work through life’s daily tasks.

Being a kid at heart is the reminder that there was a time and a place in all of our lives when we were free to be exactly who we are without the hindrances of judgment. It’s like that phrase that people say, “Dance like nobody’s watching.” Live your life like nobody’s watching and just be yourself. Be that little 5-year-old child walking down the sidewalk and taking the time to look down at the teeniest little ant.

Everyday I think that I am so blessed to instinctively know that I will be a child at heart for the rest of my days.

Genie Here Are My Wishes….

You have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?

I just got off the phone with my sister. I had read the three wishes writing challenge. The challenge is if a genie gave me three wishes what would I wish for?  I asked her what her three wishes would be.  Hers were to pay off her car, pay off her mortgage and then hire someone to finish her yard.

What would Your three wishes be?

As for me personally I think I lived most of my life with contentment.  I never looked to things and thought I wish I had this or I wish I had that. For the things that I really wanted that seemed out of reach I worked hard to get those things.

My entrepreneurial spirit and success in business made me realize that no amount of money can buy happiness. We have to create that for ourselves that even a genie in a bottle is not going to give us happiness.

I also learned that a genie in a bottle is not going to give us adaptability. There’s so much that goes on in our lives that we need to be able to even out the flow and roll with it.

I also learned that laughing and having a sense of humor everyday is more important than putting a bottle on a shelf and hoping a genie pops out and a wish will come true.

I grew up watching, “I dream of Jeannie” and I will admit it was one of my favorite shows of the ’70s.

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth.

Happy, Loving, Kind, Impetuous, Intelligent & Funny

Describe a family member.

Gordon & Elizabeth

Gordon, my husband, is Happy, Impetuous, Intelligent & Funny.

Gordon wakes up happy every single day. With that happiness comes a terrific smile. Waking up daily with a happy man works well with me.

I love him.

Gordon is loving and I appreciate this about him. How he loves our children, our grandchildren and me. He shows up. He asks questions and he takes notes. Acts of love daily in small and big ways.

I love him.

Gordon is kind. He is patient (unless we are walking out the door and I can’t find my phone.) Gordon is supportive. He communicates openly.  He is considerate of my needs. Through small acts of kindness you see Gordon. He values our partnership, striving to build a relationship grounded in trust, mutual respect, and affection.

I love him.

Gordon is impetuous in positive ways. Moving about his day getting things done. The dishwasher gets unloaded daily.  The laundry gets done often before I am out of bed in the morning. House, home, cars. finances taken care of because this man gets things done. He does not leave anything undone. He in not influenced by others.

I love him

Gordon is intelligent. Ask him a question. He consumes information daily. Manages every aspect of his life with thought and intention. I love when he gets into conversations with our grown kids over life, work, life experiences and imparts his wisdom.

Family

Funny. Gordon makes me laugh everyday. He is funny. You will definitely be caught in a riddle or pun almost daily. Life is good with this man.

I love my Happy, Loving, Kind, Impetuous, Intelligent & Funny husband.

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth.

Walking….Walking …

What is your favorite form of physical exercise?

I grew up in a time when walking was everything. Today we call it exercise.

Out on a beautiful walk.

I was at dinner last night with my mom, sister and two of my boys. One of the boys, now 22 years old, was sharing how,  “Rain or shine mom took us on walks everyday.” That was and is my favorite form of exercise.

Raising five kids, four of which are boys, walking was also a gentle form of discipline. If one of the kids was having a moment and needed a break they were instructed to take a 15 minute walk and to take the dog with them. No one ever complained about those thoughtful walks. Often I was asking a few questions that they could think about while on that solo walk. Secretly I knew that walking off frustrations was the best remedy.

It was a habit that after dinner we put on our rain gear and took walks. Living in Oregon with lots of rain and the rain never hindered our walks. When my husband and I were first dating he asked. “Do you all always go on walks after dinner?” Most evenings, yes.

Snuck this picture while walking with my boys after dinner.

What rhymes with walking? Talking. If you truly want to learn the heart of a person go on walks. I love walking with my husband. We are both retired and these walks mean the world to me. Chatting and hearing the things important to him. Catching up with my kids on our one on one walks now that they are all grown opens up wonderful conversations. Last week three of my boys came for dinner. (Pictured above) After dinner we went on a walk, discussing politics, politicians and learning their hearts on the issues important to them.

Walking is my favorite form of exercise. Want to spend time with me? Let’s take a walk.

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful walk, Elizabeth ❤️

I would Pay Nothing…

How much would you pay to go to the moon?

Hello Beautiful Moon

I would pay nothing to go to the moon . I have no desire to land on the moon. I am comfortable looking up at the moon with wonder.

I read,”Good Night Moon,” to all my children. At one time, with 5 kids, I had this precious book memorized.  My oldest son would crawl over to the bookcase, pull this book off the shelf and then climb up in my lap. Then we would go outside on a summer day and look for the moon.

My entire life I never believed that Neil Armstrong was the first person on the moon. I always thought the cameraman was the first person on the moon. My mom thought I was silly and asked to many questions.

Since that miraculous event of a man landing on the moon with minimal technology and the fact that technology has advanced as much as it has in the last 50 years, I’m still skeptical about anyone actually making it on the moon, jumping around, and growing potatoes. My stepson believes there was a moon landing and once there. “Why go back?”

I do believe that Elon Musk will be giving us a different perspective than those who claim to a first landed on the moon. I am not a skeptic to the umpth degree. I just know that in grade school the teachers had no believable answers to a moon landing.

All that being said I have no desire to go to the moon. Nor would I pay to go to the moon. What are your thoughts on this subject.

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth.

I See You

The library on the 10th floor of a cruise ship. Come down the stairs, walk through the library, to my left, down the hall and a few rooms down, and there you have our stateroom.

Multiple times a day walking through the library and looking at this scene. One day I paused and gave balance to the library with this picture. When I worked with it in black and white I loved it.

I can’t wait to find the space to frame this as a reminder of interior design and balance. And guess what,”I see You.”

If you’re interested in a copy of this print please be sure to reach out through my contact page. We can decide on the best framing and size for your spaces and places.

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth.

Choices by Elizabeth Harris Art

“Choices” by Elizabeth Harris Art

First I want to start off by saying how much I am enjoying seeing art in black and white. Most of my art starts with an inspiration, which leads me to the canvas and mixing and creating with paints. Photography is a natural for me. As an interior designer, artist, and lover of all things balance and beautiful so many things catch my eye that I have taken thousands of pictures over the years. Actually over decades.

On vacation with my husband I turned to saving some of my favorite pictures and producing black and whites. Over the next month I will be sharing each picture, one by one, as I come up with a name and tell the story of that picture.

We start this series off with “Choices” which is pictured above. We were standing in the hot sun of Nassau in Bermuda. Sweat dripping down our backs from the intense heat and humidity. It was Gordon my husband, and four other friends on our trip with us. We were deciding which direction we were going to go with our friends. Are we going to go into town, stop at a restaurant, or just keep wondering through the streets.

While we were standing there is the hot sun I paused at this selection of doors. Quietly chuckling over six people coming together on what direction to go. I thought how interesting as we are trying to come up with choices for the rest of the day. Life seems to be like all these doors. Which door are we going to open and walk through. As we stood there deciding I started taking pictures of these doors. An old stucco building with beat up old doors. I pulled on the knobs and the doors did not open. When I was finished admiring these doors the group was about a block a head. They had made the choice without me. Which was fine as long as we were moving.

Join me over the next few weeks as I share some of my favorite black and white photos from our trip. We took a cruise in the Bahamas. Sunshine, fun with my husband and friends and beautiful photos to come.

Look for prints for sale on the the gallery tab. I will put some of my favorites up for sale as I share here. I encourage you to reach out if you want specific sizes no listed on this website.

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth

Pause When You Can

Pause when you can. It may look very different how you pause or how I pause. It may take minutes or hours. Allow yourself to pause. In that pause, think, breathe and clear your mind of the noise. Spoken or unspoken the sounds begin to influence your thoughts, your moods and your choices.

My husband and I took a cruise in mid-August. I am blessed that in retirement we can take trips like this. I took this picture of my coffee. The crisp sea air of the morning wrapped with the aroma of my coffee. The smells were intoxicating my soul. The colors were amazing, too. I then transitioned and edited the picture to a black and white. I paused. I sat there at the table with this lovely cup of coffee resting on the railing of the ship. I realize the gift I am given to pause. When you pause, the smells and sounds wake up to new discoveries.

Somewhere my husband was wandering, maybe getting breakfast, maybe running into friends we were traveling with. People all around me. Yet, here I am sitting at this table and a moment, which turned into about 15 minutes to sit quietly. No talking. The hums and chatter from those around me. The swishing sound of the water breaking as a big ship moved along the deepest seas moving forward. these sounds drowned out by my overthinking self. I am really good at canceling out the noise, the chatter, the environmental sounds. Pausing allows me to breath and think about clearing my minds. Clearing my mind is not always easy. It’s amazing how taking a pause brings clarity to loving others more intentionally, being kinder to myself, and a deeper level of self acceptance, and the beautiful sounds. All wrapped up in a fifteen minute pause.

These two black and white pictures are my reminder to pause when I can. The news, the election year, the floods of a hurricane wiping out communities, a kid back at college, a kid who struggles and the list goes on. We all have thoughts and lists in our heads. All much more manageable when we can take moments to just pause. Be kind to yourself today and find some time to just sit, pause and renew your sprits.

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth

Emily Otteson Art

There is a sweet little girl that I had the honor of raising who grew up beside me with her paintbox, easel, and paint brushes. I had a furniture store. Before Emily even started school we had an easel in the stock room where she could sit and paint while I helped customers. I love this picture of her with a bunk bed in the background about to be built.

Emily Otteson

Emily Otteson is a multifaceted artist. If she’s not painting she’s either playing her guitar, piano or mandolin and singing. She performs on stages around the country. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee and I could not be more proud of her.

Emily Otteson Art

Over the past few months she has been invited two times to participate in the, “Franklin Tennessee Art Crawl.” Most of what Emily shares on her social media is about her music. If you don’t know her you should definitely go look for her at @emilytheott on Instagram. The extension of creativity where paintbrush hits the canvas is absolutely beautiful. You can also find her art page @emilyottesonart.

One of my favorites.

So much of her sharing is about her music and this girl has hustle when it comes to both music and her art. I wanted to just take a moment and honor her because I am so proud of this young woman and how she uses her gifts to bless others. She is a  hardworking musical artist and is able to extend her art interest from paintbrush to canvas in very unique ways.

Hello my beautiful daughter.

Being an artist of any kind where you are competing for a stage or a platform to show your art and music is no easy task. Often weeks or months can go by where you wonder if you have stepped into the right career. The fortitude that Emily has to keep moving forward has been beautiful to watch on a day-to-day basis.

Emily Otteson Art

Her style is eclectic, soft and unique as is her personality. The words that she puts to the music she writes and sings is heartwarming.   When you listen to her there are many drop the mic moments. Her art is the same way as she puts the paint brush and colors on the canvas and creates beautiful pieces that now are in the homes of many.

Emily Otteson Art

Last week, when she had her last art showing I called her knowing it was midnight but I had to know how her showcase went. She sold five pieces. I could not have been more happy for her. If you are an artist you know the hustle it takes and often you can have shows of selling one to two pieces and be ecstatic. This girl sold five.

Emily Otteson Art

I could begin to write pages and pages and entire series just about my daughter. However I just wanted to pop on to my own website and highlight her and some beautiful art pieces. Going to try to convince her to sell prints for my website. If you see any pieces you love let me know and I will see that we can get these in your home.

Please take a moment to go check her out.

Page 247 Angel & America Bound

received_9081712106835636599084253005169471 Page 247 bound for America with passenger Nava Writz Boggard. Please bring your passport to the front of the line. A passport denied once to America but not twice. The second time around a passport stamped with the red eagle and “United States of America” granted to a young Israeli women named Nava. For a young girl to have her aspirations and dreams to one day visit America this day, this page number marked in her book, is the start of her American bound dreams coming true, page 247. “It All Began with Caroline” by Nava Writz Boggard. A wonderful accounting of Nava’s life as a young girl from Tel Aviv. The 2nd of seven children; stories about growing up in her large family, relationships with her parents and her adventures in growing up all wrap a beautiful and wonderful story. But it’s page 247 that caught my eye. wp-17105387675354819925198768839417 I messaged my dear friend Nava last evening. Asking her if “247” meant anything to her. She made a few guesses, but I did not disclose what it meant. After she reads this post I am sure she will throw her hair back, laugh and say something like, “That Elizabeth, always surprising me.” What she may not realize is the symbolic meanings of “247” go beyond a page in her book.  Many years ago someone told me that, “Angel 247 is your angel Elizabeth. An angel is always watching over your journey and your path wherever you go.” This is why the words on page 247 of Nava’s book caught my eye. I met Nava in the early 90’s as a young business owner. Owning a furniture and boutique designer showroom for children. Nave owned, “Nava’s Designs” an upscale elegant and custom baby bedding company. I was young and overwhelmed by a large buying show. Yet the minute I walked into Nava’s showroom you knew you would have a friend for life that went beyond business. Our days of successful entrepreneurs crossed as she designed, and I bought her exquisite designs for my customers.

As we both got older and our days of running our businesses retired, she moved back to her home country and I went on with my life as artist, interior designer and “Mineee” (grandma) being added to my resume.

Screenshot_20240315_145606_Instagram~2

Social media has kept us in touch and looking into our each other’s lives these past years. I was elated to learn that Nava had completed her book and was ready to go on tour. Being an adventuresome business savvy entrepreneur she could not go about marketing her book like most people. Instead, she wrapped an RV like the cover of her book and took to the roads of America to share her stories. Back to America and a new journey and path.

I was honored to be her first stop on her RV journey. Our friendship has deepened and now I am watching daily as she posts her “247.”

img_20240214_192542_7703903762227652119555

As I am writing this post Nava has messaged me that she is still trying to uncover the mystery of the number “247”.  Here is what she shared in her findings from a google search….

“The angel number 247 is a mysterious phenomenon that has appeared in people’s lives for centuries. It’s believed to be your guardian angels sending you a message or a sign to help guide you on your path. The meaning behind the 247-angel number, and how they can help guide you on your journey. “

Did you read that. The very page in her book, page 247, that solidifies her journey, her path and her future in America is where she has shared her passport getting stamped.

20240315_145956

Her written words on page 247 of, “It All Began with Caroline” a young women’s dreams realized and written on the page of a number that represents a guardian angel that guides your path and journey.  Nava are you reading this. The God of the universe is watching over you and 247 is your number baby.

Nava walks in very deep waters of significant meaning. Her book, her story telling, her accounts of specific events in her life do not disappoint. I am not a book reviewer by a long shot. However, having led many book clubs this is book club worthy.

20240216_094652~21741971927148955560.

Gather your girlfriends, read a few chapters, and discuss her life and how it parallels your life during the ages and transitions of growing up. So many times I saw myself in the stories that Nava shares.

My dear sweet friend. Your dreams started with a guardian angel watching over you. I am certain that angel was certain to have your dreams realized on a page number that would hold such a divine meaning, page 247

If you are reading this I highly suggest you buy this book.

Here is her Amazon Link to purchase a copy of your own. https://a.co/d/adpLa7x

“Start Believing” by Elizabeth Harris

“Start Believing” is art you love by Elizabeth Harris

Start Believing by Elizabeth Harris

That tiny voice inside my head is sometimes not so tiny. Before long I started
believing those whispers were good or bad. Those whispers sometimes tell me
that I cannot really do this. Setting goals, having a vision board, writing out
line by line the accomplishments to come. Then looking at it all and the
whispers of self-doubt sink in. I do in fact start believing that maybe I cannot
accomplish or do or make it happen.

I am breaking up with that voice.

I remember when I sold my first piece of art. When I painted murals on clients’
walls, when I painted custom furniture pieces and the self-doubt set in. Maybe
it was a fluke. Do they really love my work? The bank account, no matter how fat
from selling art, was not convincing enough in my earlier years. As I grew more
mature and confident those whispers of self-doubt drifted off into a deep dark
forest I dared not to visit.

Start Believing by Elizabeth Harris

I started promoting my art during Covid. I updated my website and drifted
away from promoting myself in Interior Design or Advertising and Marketing. I
had mostly worked on referrals and rarely needed a website to promote. When I
decided to make my art more prominent the website overhaul began. I started
believing that I could sell art. Listening to my music, in my Palm Desert studio,
I realized that to have success I needed to “Start Believing.”

I painted this piece, “Start Believing.”  I named it this because the website was updated,
and my second half of life passions were coming alive and I had to let go of
those whispers in my youth that try to make you believe you can’t when in fact
you can.

Start Believing by Elizabeth Harris

“Start Believing” was sitting on an easel in my kitchen drying. I
often put my finished paintings on the counter to dry to make sure there are no
further brush strokes needed. It looked stunning. My husband thought it was
amazing. Then a house guest came to visit. Her words stung. Out of her mouth,
“I would never buy that.” This was not just a whisper it was words
from another. Words that stung. Words that woke the doubts in my own head. A
visit into the dark woods of self-destructive thoughts. Thoughts that if she
doesn’t love it then no one else will.

Why oh why do we do this to ourselves? My first business my parents were not
in favor. I had to believe in myself that I could do it and work through all
the negative conversations.

“You have no business degree.”

“You have no experience.”

“You have no start-up funding.”

All the words of those most important people to me. Yet in my first year of business,
I made over a million dollars.  That is
what an overcomer does. Fighting not only the whispers in my head, but the
words of others.

It’s been a few years now since Covid.  I think back to painting this piece and being
so proud of my finished work. I am still proud of this piece. And the person
with her opinions is just that her opinions. This piece was donated and sold
for over $2500.00. It meant something to the purchaser. “Start Believing” is
available as a print. These colorways were trending in the late 1990’s and baby
they are back.

Just Add Peppers

She’s coming. Her bright aqua RV will be arriving soon. My husband and I have the house tidyed for our guests. We sit in the beautiful California Desert sunshine waiting.

I have known Nava for almost 30 years. It’s been decades since we have been together. (We were actually together just a day ago and that story will be shared later).

Nava & Goron. Their home on wheels.

It’s Valentine’s Day.

I painted this for my husband.

Nava said she will cook us dinner. She messaged me a list to shop for. Lots of Bell Peppers. I thought that with this request for so many peppers that the recipe must be, “Just Add Peppers.”

“It All Began with Caroline” is her first book. Nava Writz Bogaard writes a true-story-based novel. She shares her exhilarating story from a young girl growing up in Tel Aviv with her heart set on Los Angeles and her adventures. A beautiful story of hope, happiness, sorrow and resilience. Now traveling the U.S to share her story.

Nava and her partner, Goron, set out to travel throughout the country to share her story. We are the first stop in the desert.

They arrive and we sit in the sunshine and visit.

Perfect colors for a sunny day.

Soon my kitchen is transformed into a cooking show. Nava teaches me how to make stuffed peppers. Look at this woman go. The vegetables are ready. She shows me how to prepare the peppers while she starts the soups.

Just Add Peppers
Ready to cook!

The evening progresses. The smells of stuffed peppers fill the air. This beautiful meal, which also included a sweet potato-carrot soup, was delicious. Everyone was impressed that our house guest whipped up this beautiful meal.

Stuffed Peppers

Girlfriends connecting, bringing our partners along, celebrating love and friendship by just adding peppers.

Happy Valentine’s Day
