She’s coming. Her bright aqua RV will be arriving soon. My husband and I have the house tidyed for our guests. We sit in the beautiful California Desert sunshine waiting.
I have known Nava for almost 30 years. It’s been decades since we have been together. (We were actually together just a day ago and that story will be shared later).
It’s Valentine’s Day.
Nava said she will cook us dinner. She messaged me a list to shop for. Lots of Bell Peppers. I thought that with this request for so many peppers that the recipe must be, “Just Add Peppers.”
“It All Began with Caroline” is her first book. Nava Writz Bogaard writes a true-story-based novel. She shares her exhilarating story from a young girl growing up in Tel Aviv with her heart set on Los Angeles and her adventures. A beautiful story of hope, happiness, sorrow and resilience. Now traveling the U.S to share her story.
Nava and her partner, Goron, set out to travel throughout the country to share her story. We are the first stop in the desert.
They arrive and we sit in the sunshine and visit.
Soon my kitchen is transformed into a cooking show. Nava teaches me how to make stuffed peppers. Look at this woman go. The vegetables are ready. She shows me how to prepare the peppers while she starts the soups.
The evening progresses. The smells of stuffed peppers fill the air. This beautiful meal, which also included a sweet potato-carrot soup, was delicious. Everyone was impressed that our house guest whipped up this beautiful meal.
Girlfriends connecting, bringing our partners along, celebrating love and friendship by just adding peppers.
