“Alexa” is Art You Love by Elizabeth Traub.

As I was painting this piece the doors were all wide open. The morning was still early. The air was cool and breezy. You could hear the chirping of the birds and doves singing from the chimney tops as they do every morning. I was up early. I was inspired by these colors to keep pouring brush stroking and layering. I couldn’t wait to get started while the day was still cool. Since my studio has an open ceiling to the sky it can get very warm here in Palm Desert, CA when the sun comes overhead.

I could hear the conversations outside. A neighbor had been passing through and stopped to chat with Gordon. I do not have a tendency to eaves drop on conversations but outside my big glass sliding door is a hallway and the front door wide open. So as I painted I could hear every word spoken. Once the neighbor has passed by I could hear the conversations with the gardeners, too.

I thought this to be an, “Alexa” is listening” moment. But really I was listening. It made me acutely aware of how our electronic devices are listening. The words of conversation became white noise as I was painting unless I heard my name, then my ears perked up. This is the nature of our electronic devices. They listen for key words to direct their advertising. I chuckled as I continued painting. The next day I loved how this piece dried. I thought it looked like something that could be placed in a library where there is no talking and no, “Alexa” moments.

Each print is a beautiful Gallery Wrapped Canvas with attached sawtooth hook ready to hang. I have a number of frame options which we can discuss at time of order.
