On my phone the photo app will pop up the best of something or other. I’m sitting at home in my art studio in Lake Oswego, OR when this photo pops up. This picture popped up which was the start of a three day wedding weekend in Joshua Tree, CA.
I already had these soft hues of green and blue I was mixing. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to paint but I was enjoying the process of mixing pretty colors.
When this picture pops up I started to put paint on rocks to see how I like the look. Then I thought why not just paint this funny looking desert tree. One paintedrock turned into many as you can see. That is typically how it goes.

And then the Joshua tree started taking shape and I absolutely love how these turned out.
When I am doing art events I like to splatter painted rocks around an art piece. Why? Some people are not ready to make a purchase of a big canvas but they love the work and want something to put in their suitcase or take home or give us a gift. Rocks are inexpensive and a great little canvas. A freat way to get a little slice of an artist and her work.

I love sharing my inspirations and my art process. If you have read this far thank you very much. I do still have a few of these rocks if you’re interested send me a message and we’ll work out how to get you one, or two, for three.
Have a wonderful day!
Elizabeth
