Happy New Year’s resolutions are often filled with, “Now What’s” and there is no hesitation in filling in the answers. Everything from 2025 carry’s over into 2026. Plain and simple. And “we” hope to do better in the matters that are most important.

One thing I am really happy about are the changes I have made in using my time in the evenings. Once my evenings were filled with a busy household and five kids. Those evenings were filled with all that being a mommy involved. That season has come and gone. Now what?
It has taken me a few years to really wrap my brain around this season of free-time. Especially in the evenings. My days fill up quickly with the activities my husband and I share. I use to tell my kids, “When you are all out of the house I watching all the Oscar winning movies I never watched.” Of course I was saying all that long before we had streaming TV. And for the past couple of years I have loved my quiet evenings of uninterrupted TV watching. The house is spotless, my husband typically goes to bed early and it’s a season I am enjoying. No What?

My, “Now What” happened this past Fall. While watching TV I am typically playing a game on my phone. One of my goals this past Fall was to find a few things to volunteer at, paint more, lead an evening book club and rebuild my resale shop on Etsy. I now use my time, while watching TV volunteering for a non-profit working on their selling site, painting more and reading to prepare for my monthly book club. I cannot express how rewarding this has been.

I have also decided that, during that TV time I can also work on my own art and resale business which has been lagging. That has also been incredibly rewarding. I joined both the Palm Desert & Palm Springs Art Councils. All these specific, “Now What’s” in my life started taking shape last Fall with clear and specific goals.

As the calendar has changed we will all have our thoughts on changes and our, “Now What’s” . Keep on doing what you love and work on doing those things better.
Happy New Year,
Elizabeth
