“Growth” by Elizabeth Traub

It’s  been hard to put into words this past year. For many their hardest year. A pandemic, Covid, division and so much more. For me it was and still is a year of growth. Growing spiritually, emotionally and in beautiful relational ways with Gordon, my children, his children, my friendships both old and new.

This was my first piece of intentional, put in a gallery, sell to friends and family and hope it is well received piece of art.

A canvas and an obseen amount of colors collected. Yet green stood out, and blue and white. I thought I could just throw paint on the canvas. Hours, five hours to be exact passed. A brush and sponge and pouring mediums. What surprises would this piece hold?

I sat and thought about this past year. Green is the color of nature. Growing, vibrant, full of wonder and hope. And my experience was more that paints and a canvas. It was actually a beautiful year for me. A year of wandering and wondering what is next for my life. Growth is sometimes stretching, pulling, and chips away at the parts of us that need change. “Growth” comes from all of this and I have certainly experience much growth this year.

My emotions, my thoughts, and feelings about life just poured onto the canvas with brush strokes, a sponge and mixing mediums. I was 100% focused on trying to find the colors, and balance that visually made me smile.

It’s exciting and scary to venture into something new. Treating myself like a client. Strategizing and thinking through the internal blocks. Clients pay me. The motivation and accountability fuel the passions for success for my clients. How do I fuel my passions? Who is holding me accountable? Myself. Aren’t we our biggest critics?

“Growth” is allowing ourselves to grow through each season, each transition, each struggle.

This piece, “Growth” is available in various sizes. Please note that the digital picture is as close to the colors as the original. There will always be a slight variation.
