First I want to start off by saying how much I am enjoying seeing art in black and white. Most of my art starts with an inspiration, which leads me to the canvas and mixing and creating with paints. Photography is a natural for me. As an interior designer, artist, and lover of all things balance and beautiful so many things catch my eye that I have taken thousands of pictures over the years. Actually over decades.
On vacation with my husband I turned to saving some of my favorite pictures and producing black and whites. Over the next month I will be sharing each picture, one by one, as I come up with a name and tell the story of that picture.
We start this series off with “Choices” which is pictured above. We were standing in the hot sun of Nassau in Bermuda. Sweat dripping down our backs from the intense heat and humidity. It was Gordon my husband, and four other friends on our trip with us. We were deciding which direction we were going to go with our friends. Are we going to go into town, stop at a restaurant, or just keep wondering through the streets.
While we were standing there is the hot sun I paused at this selection of doors. Quietly chuckling over six people coming together on what direction to go. I thought how interesting as we are trying to come up with choices for the rest of the day. Life seems to be like all these doors. Which door are we going to open and walk through. As we stood there deciding I started taking pictures of these doors. An old stucco building with beat up old doors. I pulled on the knobs and the doors did not open. When I was finished admiring these doors the group was about a block a head. They had made the choice without me. Which was fine as long as we were moving.
Join me over the next few weeks as I share some of my favorite black and white photos from our trip. We took a cruise in the Bahamas. Sunshine, fun with my husband and friends and beautiful photos to come.
Look for prints for sale on the the gallery tab. I will put some of my favorites up for sale as I share here. I encourage you to reach out if you want specific sizes no listed on this website.
Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth
