There is a sweet little girl that I had the honor of raising who grew up beside me with her paintbox, easel, and paint brushes. I had a furniture store. Before Emily even started school we had an easel in the stock room where she could sit and paint while I helped customers. I love this picture of her with a bunk bed in the background about to be built.
Emily Otteson is a multifaceted artist. If she’s not painting she’s either playing her guitar, piano or mandolin and singing. She performs on stages around the country. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee and I could not be more proud of her.
Over the past few months she has been invited two times to participate in the, “Franklin Tennessee Art Crawl.” Most of what Emily shares on her social media is about her music. If you don’t know her you should definitely go look for her at @emilytheott on Instagram. The extension of creativity where paintbrush hits the canvas is absolutely beautiful. You can also find her art page @emilyottesonart.
So much of her sharing is about her music and this girl has hustle when it comes to both music and her art. I wanted to just take a moment and honor her because I am so proud of this young woman and how she uses her gifts to bless others. She is a hardworking musical artist and is able to extend her art interest from paintbrush to canvas in very unique ways.
Being an artist of any kind where you are competing for a stage or a platform to show your art and music is no easy task. Often weeks or months can go by where you wonder if you have stepped into the right career. The fortitude that Emily has to keep moving forward has been beautiful to watch on a day-to-day basis.
Her style is eclectic, soft and unique as is her personality. The words that she puts to the music she writes and sings is heartwarming. When you listen to her there are many drop the mic moments. Her art is the same way as she puts the paint brush and colors on the canvas and creates beautiful pieces that now are in the homes of many.
Last week, when she had her last art showing I called her knowing it was midnight but I had to know how her showcase went. She sold five pieces. I could not have been more happy for her. If you are an artist you know the hustle it takes and often you can have shows of selling one to two pieces and be ecstatic. This girl sold five.
I could begin to write pages and pages and entire series just about my daughter. However I just wanted to pop on to my own website and highlight her and some beautiful art pieces. Going to try to convince her to sell prints for my website. If you see any pieces you love let me know and I will see that we can get these in your home.
Please take a moment to go check her out.
