My husband and I have been traveling in the Mediterranean on a cruise ship. We arrived 3 and 1/2 days early in Barcelona, Spain. Neither of us had ever been to Spain.
I find myself looking through the lens of my camera phone and seeing opportunities to paint our trip. It actually moves me to see that there is art everywhere. Small little details I see inspire me to paint.
Even though it’s just a picture on a phone, these pictures are being saved up to be printed. I truly think I have enough inspiration to last the next 10 years.
When I had traveled to England I have also built a complete file of things that I want to paint.
I have included in this post a number of pictures in which I intend to create beautiful canvases with my brushes and acrylic paints. From Barcelona, to Mykonos, to Turkey, and Santorini.
Additionally visiting Picasso’s Museum in Barcelona had me in tears. There was one room that showed images from Picasso’s sketch pad. There practicing the human figure. It reminded me of when I attended the Art institute in Seattle and we would have live models to sketch. I felt like I was getting a private lesson personally from Picasso as I looked at each one of his images.
It’s amazing to me that no matter how new of an artist, or how old of an artist, that your heart can be so deeply moved as if that person were standing in the room with you.
As I said there’s art everywhere an inspiration for a lifetime wherever we travel.
Happy Trails. Elizabeth Harris
